Artist Hassan Shakosh sang it at a festival for Valentine’s Day, which sparked the controversy that led to the ban.
The artist’s mother asked in an interview with local media that her son not be punished.
Artists of the genre have been banned from singing at events, and music platforms such as SoundCloud and YouTube should remove their songs and videos, authorities warned.
